A Level Results
Despite the grading system being adjusted to pre-pandemic levels this year in England, causing a drop in top A Level grades, it was fantastic to see students and staff here at BMS celebrating on 17 August with a set of results which show an uplift on those achieved in 2019. A Levels were the first public examinations that these students sat as their GCSE grades were based on assessments made by teachers. However, their commitment and determination has been rewarded with excellent results, including 82% graded A*-B.
Headmaster, Alex Tate, commented: “After three years of disruption together with the Government’s determination to revert to grade boundaries akin to 2019, it is impressive indeed that this year’s set of A Level results show a demonstrable improvement. This cohort of students should be very proud of their achievements, and I would like to offer them my personal congratulations and wish them continued success as they begin the next chapter of their lives.”
The students will now become the newest members of the OBM Club. I hope to see them at future OBM events and find out more about their next steps. I am sure you will all make them feel very welcome.

GCSE Results
On 24 August, a fantastic set of GCSE results were also being celebrated by students and staff here at BMS, despite the return to pre-pandemic levels nationally. They show an increase in the top grades awarded compared to 2019 with an impressive 21% marked at grade 9 and more than two thirds at 9-7.
Four students attained grade 9s in all ten subjects they sat and two of them, Afsheen and Dheethya also achieved a 9 in further maths and A*s in their Higher Project Qualifications (HPQ).
Acting Head, Andrew Whomsley, added: “It’s been a privilege to see this cohort of students develop and thrive, and to witness just how hard they have worked to obtain this excellent set of results. This is despite a challenging few years which were disrupted by COVID-19 and during which time they had to choose their GCSE options. We have never underestimated the impact this has had on them as they were forced to study online and stay isolated from their peers. These young people have done themselves proud and I could not be more delighted for them.
“The staff here at BMS should also be commended on their continued commitment, drive and determination and should be equally proud of their achievements.”
