Lily Morgan (2015-20)
"My experience included posting a general post on the LinkedIn page and I was shocked to see the number of comments and suggestions I received from OBMs. I was hunting for an industrial placement to form the sandwich year of my Business Management with Marketing university course. This meant I was having conversations with individuals in multiple industries and also included conversations about potentially sourcing a job through their company. Also, the contacts that the OBM team sent me were so helpful and from a range of industries. Each OBM was very helpful and friendly and I will definitely be in touch again in the future."
Neale Else - Assistant Head (Years 9-11)
“For me the interactive Periodic Table, which was funded as part of the new Science Centre through the BMS Foundation Fund, attracts students to it every single day of the school year. It is invaluable in bringing to life one of the most important pieces of chemical understanding, lifting it from a textbook into reality.”
Mary Perry - Director of Music
"The David Ball Scholarship has had a very positive impact on the recipients of this prize and has encouraged our piano players to become more fully involved in the co-curricular life of the school, which can be a challenge on what can be such a solitary instrument. The scholarship has encouraged our young piano players to indulge in a wider variety of styles and broaden their musical experience which is a wonderful opportunity for them."
Shaheer Khan (2011-18)
"During my Master's degree at the University of Nottingham, the OBM network played a vital role in helping me complete my Dissertation project. I was struggling to find suitable participants to interview, however after reaching out to the OBM network I was soon introduced to many willing participants. Many gave up their time and gave me invaluable advice on the project and how to improve it. Being able to access a network of professionals who were eager to help reminded me that the OBM network really is a valuable resource and should be utilised to its full extent."
Jo Saward - Head of Careers
“The impact of OBMs coming in and sharing their experiences of the world of work cannot be understated. We have access to a vast amount of information about different careers and pathways, but hearing directly from OBMs about their real experience of work really brings that information to life. Whenever we have had OBMs in to talk about the world of work, feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive as they truly value the opportunity to have meaningful conversations and develop their networking skills.”
